This Conference was held at the University of Copenhagen in November 2001.

The purpose of the Conference was to seek a deeper understanding of the expanding field of religious communication on the Internet.

The Conference was organized by scientists of religion at the Department of History of Religions at the University of Copenhagen. 

The Conference was part of a larger research project focusing on cultural encounters, funded by the Danish Research Council for the Humanities and the Danish Social Science Research Council.

A Conference volume entitled Religion and Cyberspace has been published in 2005 by Routledge, London.
